The default
Campaign Manager reports every format on the same metrics, so you choose which one fits each format's job.
LinkedIn Campaign Manager
What the Standard adds
Single image and video carry the message and the ask. Text, Spotlight and Follower ads give low-cost presence under warm audiences, on a 180-day window. They also work as low-cost broad reach.
Why it holds
Coverage formats cost a fraction of in-feed per thousand impressions. Judged on CTR they always lose, which is why many accounts switch off the cheapest way to stay visible across a long sales cycle. They're desktop-only and run alongside in-feed, never in place of it.
When it matters less
CTR is the right measure for in-feed formats whose job is the click: single image, video, document and carousel ads.
Decision triggers
Spot it, then act on it.
| You see | Do this |
|---|---|
| Text ads with a tiny CTR and a high cost per click | Judge them on CPM, impressions and accounts reached. |
| Coverage ads switched off over cost per lead | Turn them back on under warm audiences, or as low-cost broad reach, and measure them on reach. |
| Coverage ads running on 90-day audiences | Move them to 180-day audiences. |
What experts say
Where people in the field stand on it.

Very much agree with this. Also judge them by CPC, since they're so cheap. And judge Follower ads by cost per follow if company follows are actually the goal of the ad set.

I use them less and less. They skew the total performance numbers (they lower CPM) but have minimal impact on overall campaign performance.
Ivars Krutainis Otter -
A lot of these ads get missed. Text ads can get a good cost per click to the landing page. CTR is always low, but impressions are cheap, so the cost per landing-page click can be really good. That's the number I look at.

-
Building the account Daily to monthly
Account audit by cadence
Runs eight account checks on a schedule, so a LinkedIn Ads specialist knows what to fix today, this week and this month.

Who the budget reaches Every 1 to 2 weeks
Company-level account routing
Shows which companies take most of the impressions, which are underserved, and which to prioritize or move into their own audience.
-
Who the budget reaches Daily, then weekly
LinkedIn fit gate + daily fit check
Grades a prospecting campaign by the companies it actually reached against your ICP, then says pass, run one more week, or rebuild. Runs daily after launch to catch new fails and leaked exclusions.
-
From signal to sales Weekly + monthly
Signal loop
Runs the weekly routine for LinkedIn ads that go only to a list of named target companies, so a person knows which companies to write to this week and why now. It never sends or changes anything.
-
From signal to sales On demand
Turn social signals into pipeline
Turns people who engaged with LinkedIn posts (a competitor’s, a topic’s, or your own company page’s) into two company-level lists: companies for sales review and companies for nurture. It sends nothing and looks no one up.
-
Ads and creative Weekly
Weekly check for conversion campaigns
Judges every Lead Gen Form and Message ad against your goal cost per lead: which ads to pause, which winners to copy into new versions, and what to check when every ad in an ad set is expensive. It gives recommendations to approve and changes nothing.
-
Building the account Once, days 7 to 14
LinkedIn Campaign Early Read
A first read on one LinkedIn campaign 7 to 14 days after launch, before conversions exist: is it delivering as expected, is it reaching the right companies and people, who is engaging with the ads and on your site, and which accounts are worth acting on now. It only recommends and changes nothing.
